Veterans’ Home Care
Multicultural Care is proud to be funded by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to provide care for veterans, war widows and widowers. We love caring for our veterans, widows and widowers and will do our absolute best to look after those who gave so much.
What is the Veterans’ Home Care Program?
The Federal Government’s Veterans’ Home Care Program (VHC) includes a range of services to help support eligible veterans, war widows and widowers to remain living independently in their own homes for as long as possible. It is designed to assist individuals by providing low level care needs and enabling them to remain in their own home and avoid premature admission into residential care.
What services does Multicultural Care provide?
Multicultural Care provides the following services to assist you and/or your family member to continue to living at home:
- Domestic Assistance: assistance with domestic tasks such as household cleaning, dishwashing and ironing.
- Respite Care: Respite support for the primary carer so they can take a break from their caring role.
- Social Assistance: 12 week program where you can engage in community activities such as groups.
- Personal Care: low level support with personal care (grooming, bathing, showering, dressing).
Am I Eligible?
If you are a Gold or White Card holder living at home and have been assessed as needing Home Care assistance by a VHC Assessment Agency, you may be eligible for support through VHC.
What level of assistance is available?
The hours per week and frequency of visitations offered will be determined by the VHC assessment agency based on your needs.
Funding
VHC services are subsided by the Australian Government through the Department of Veterans Affairs. There is a small fee co-payment required to be paid by the program recipient which will be determined by the VHC assessment agency.
Other services available to Veterans
All Veterans are also eligible for Government Home Care Packages and Private Care, used to top-up services funded through VHC. For more information about the funding available through this package, visit the Department of Veterans Affairs Website or contact one of our team member who can assist you on 02 9718 6199.
To be eligible for access to a Home Care Package you require a comprehensive assessment by your local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). This needs to be arranged by contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit the My Aged Care website.
